Sol Plaatje University APS Calculation

Admission Point Score (APS) serves as a grading system for considering students for admission at SPU. You have to meet the APS requirement to avoid nullifying your application efforts.

The points you get for each course will depend on the percentage you score in that particular subject. The APS score is the total points you receive from each course.

However, there are other factors that determine your admission status. Meeting the requirements may not guarantee your admission application success. Space availability and the number of prospective students to be accepted are factors that may also determine your admission status.

Applicants for a specific programme must meet the minimum APS for that programme. Generally, you get points for each matric subject you write that you write an exam for.

To calculate your APS, you’ll need to add your six best subjects, excluding Life Orientation.

The points you get for each course will depend on the percentage you score in that particular subject. The APS score is the total points you receive from each course.

Submitting results and application documents for admission

Current learners at school must submit all examination results from Grade 11 until September of grade 12. Failure to submit these results may result in application delays.

Transferring students should submit all transcripts and academic records as early as possible.

If you are currently in Grade 12, you need two documents to apply:

  • A certified copy of your ID
  • Final Grade 11 results

Should you have completed your Grade 12/matric, you need three documents to apply:

  • An affidavit declaring that you have studied at another higher education institution (university or college). If you never enrolled at a university or college since completing high school, this must be declared in the affidavit.
  • A certified copy of your ID
  • Your final Grade 12 results

If you have studied at another institution, you will need:

  • An official academic transcript and a certificate of conduct from your previous college/university
  • A certified copy of your ID
  • Final Grade 12 results

In this case, you do not need an affidavit to apply.
